What causes for a helper to runaway from their employers



Why do helpers runaway?

Aside from sexual and physical abuse helpers tend to runaway from their employers
for some main reasons stated blow .

• Unfair treatment
 
      No enough food
      No enough rest 
      No offday's 
      No mobile phones
      Overworked 
      Salary issues
      
•  Excessive Verbal / Emotional abuse 

      Cursing
      Calling them (helpers) names
      Absence of emphaty especially 
         when helpers are sick 
      Descrimination /insults

• Lack of rights 

     When employers DONT follow on what is written on the contract signed
once the helper reach to its employers house .


  Yet we all know that all human has a diffirent level of tolerance , for some FDW or Foreign Domestic worker can lasts to their employers without any offday. But this situation depends on how an employer treat the FDW at home and some has MUTUAL AGGREMENT .
  Some FDW has a high tolerance when it comes to descrimination their reason is because they came here to earn money and  just swallow whatever they will hear as long as they get their salary on time and has enough food and rest .
However , when all these test strike at ones ,obviously its untolerable leave them with no choice but to GIVE UP particularly when their life is at risk .
   
I do believe that most issues can be solved through good communication and discuss what should be the appropriate action on the other hand some FDW are not open to discuss certain situation 
which i believe a lack of guts ,ideas and  lack of vocabulary that may be a hindrance for them (FDW) to express their feelings . Therefore as an FDW to protect ourselves from being abused let us know our RIGHTS and CALL HELPLINE  CDE  http://cde.org.sg/wps/portal/cde/home/contactus , and  MOM Ministry of manpower hotline  18003395505 for an advice on what to do even on small matters even misunderstanding and NOT just because we want to leave .

A Helper in Singapore, An author of five books and counting

                        BELEN RAPADA ESPOSO (a k a.Shy Lhen Esposo) is an Overseas Filipino Worker in Singapore since 2008 up to the present. Simple tips on how to minimize the risk of getting infected during this pandemic

There's nothing should be safer than staying at home, yet going out  for some errands for our basic daily needs is a necessary . Here are my simple tips on how to minimize the risk  Of getting infected during this pandemic. • Trains/buses handle bars     Try as much as possible not to hold these handles Which we all know, it's  public transport where numbers of commuters been touching/holding and practice safe  distance .do not touch your face .  • Grocery baskets / Carts  If you're buying only few, I suggest you to bring your own cart or shopping /eco/ bag (I suggest washable ones) Just imagine how many People using those carts/baskets ,can you imagine too how many bacteria was being transmitted ?   • And for choosing grocery items  buy and take what you want or need, as I have mentioned above , Could be Hundreds of people been touching the items as well just by keep on choosing  Nobody knows if the previous person who touched the items may or may n
